Turning Red Lights Into Green Lights (And Other Everyday Miracles)
Hey there, Wonder Seeker!
In this edition of Add Wonder, I want to share a little story that happened just last week. It’s a simple moment, but it’s also a reminder of how the tiniest shifts in what we ask for can open the door to everyday miracles.
The Story:
So, there I was, getting ready to take Shyla to her volleyball practice. I thought my husband had it covered, only to realize, nope, it was on me. We were running late, and as we backed out of the driveway, Shyla pulled up the navigation and saw we’d be seven minutes late. Cue the mini-panic!
In that moment, I realized we were already concluding our fate…deciding we’d be late, instead of opening the door to possibilities. So I said, “Hey, let’s not do that. Let’s ask what it would take to be on time.”
We headed out, and the GPS shifted to say we’d be nine minutes late. Shyla started to stress again, and I reminded her: Put your energy on the lights turning green. We skipped the freeway and took the side streets, which meant we had about 15 traffic lights ahead of us. One by one, every single light turned green as we approached.
We’d literally say, “Green, please,” to the light, and like magic, it would flip green before we even had to hit the brakes. Then we’d say, “Thank you very much,” and move on to the next one. It was like riding a wave of green lights all the way down the road.
But as we got closer to the time we needed to arrive and we still weren’t quite there yet, I could feel that creeping doubt sneaking back in. You know that little voice that says, “Maybe this isn’t working after all”? I caught that energy before it took over. I reminded Shyla (and myself) to keep seeing us walking in on time and to stay in the possibility. We cleared that doubt energy and stayed on course with the magic. Sure enough, we pulled up exactly on time. And let me tell you, shaving off nine minutes in L.A. traffic is a miracle all on its own.

So here are a few questions to play with:
-
Where in your life have you decided the outcome before you even began?
-
What if you could ask for little everyday miracles, like green lights or easy parking spots, just for fun
-
When doubt creeps in (especially when you’re three steps from the finish line), what if that’s just a sign to ask another question and open another door?
Remember, doubt might show up just as the miracle is about to unfold. If you don’t buy into it, you let the magic keep working.
Until next time, may you find wonder in the everyday.
With curiosity and a smile,
